Meteorologists are forecasting a 100% chance of rain showers in Tuscaloosa today and another 90% chance on Sunday.

Tuscaloosa residents can expect to see rain showers and a slight chance of a thunderstorm in the late morning and afternoon on Saturday and more of the same for Sunday.

The heavy rainfall has caused the National Weather Service (NWS) to issue a flood watch that will remain in effect until late Sunday afternoon.

Here is the release from the NWS:

The Flood Watch continues for

* All of Central Alabama.

* From 9 AM CST this morning through Sunday afternoon.

* Rainfall totals of one and a half to two and a half inches with
locally higher totals are possible through Sunday afternoon.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
