The destruction and devastation along the Gulf Coast from Hurricane Michael hit close to home for people all across the state of Alabama, and Townsquare Media wanted to do its part to help those affected.

The company decided to pool its resources from the seven radio station cluster to raise funds for the people along the coast in an operation named 'Panhandling for the Panhandle.'

Donations began at the Chris Stapleton concert on Thursday night with a donation box at the 95.3 the Bear tent. Efforts ramped up on Friday thanks to a partnership with Chick-fil-A Tuscaloosa South. The on-air talent from 92.9 WTUG, Nick 97.5, Alt 101.7, 95.3 the Bear, and Tide 102.9/100.9 solicited donations from the drive thru from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and returned again on Monday morning to raise even more money.

All of the donations were passed along to Samaritan's Purse International Relief and go directly to the recovery efforts just five hours from Tuscaloosa. Thanks to everyone that gave over the past week and thank you to WVUA 23 for coming out and helping shine a light on the generous people of West Alabama.
