The City of Tuscaloosa opened up registration for the 12th annual Mayor’s Cup 5K for Pre-K with a reduced rate of $15 through Jan. 31.

After Jan. 31, the registration fee will go back up to the original price of $20. Participants can register online at tuscaloosamayorscup.com at any time and at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater box office, located at 2710 Jack Warner Pkwy, starting Thursday, Feb. 1.

The 5k race, which starts and ends at Government Plaza in downtown Tuscaloosa on Saturday, March 24, aims to increase awareness and raise funds for the Tuscaloosa Pre-K Initiative. Last year more than 1,500 people registered. Since it began, the race has raised a total of $247,000 to support over 470 at-risk preschoolers in Tuscaloosa.

This year, the Mayor’s Cup is partnering with the Tuscaloosa Half Marathon to foster a bigger, more charitable race experience. Visit RunTuscaloosa.comfor more information on this partnership.
