$120 Million Dollars Donated By Netflix CEO

Wow! $120 Million Dollars!  Let me repeat that again, $120 Million Dollars has been donated to the United Negro College Fund, Morehouse College, and Spelman College.  This was all done by the acts of Netflix CEO Reed Hasting and his wife, Patty Quillin.  In the announcement, according to CBS This Morning of CBS News, the donation “will be enough for both universities to support 200 students each over the next decade."

Wait, I am still sitting in awe of $120 million dollars.  As a proud graduate of an HBCU, Bethune-Cookman University, I understand how this type of donation will assist the United Negro College Fund, Morehouse College, and Spelman College.  In an inspiring interview with Gayle King of CBS This Morning of CBS News she discussed the record-setting gift, with Netflix CEO Reed Hasting, President and CEO of the United Negro College Fund, Dr. Michael L. Lomax, Morehouse College President David A. Thomas and Spelman College President Mary Schmidt Campbell.  I was cheering from my living room because this was such amazing donation for colleges and universities that mean so much to the community.  In the interview with CBS's Gayle King, Netflix CEO Reed Hasting noted that Dr. Michael L. Lomax “offered to help Patty and I get to know the HBCUs… And then this year, with the tragedy in America and everyone feeling hopeless, we realized this is the time to do something bigger, and to really try to bring the HBCU story front and center…”
