19 Years Later: Remembering the Tuscaloosa Tornado of 2000
Today marks the 19th anniversary of the December 16, 2000 tornado that claimed 11 lives in Tuscaloosa.
The National Weather Service survey revealed the EF4 tornado was on the ground for approximately 18 miles in Tuscaloosa County, causing over $12 million in damages, destroying 40 houses, 70 mobile homes, and injuring 144.
The storm was caught on camera by ABC 33/40 with live coverage from Meteorologist James Spann.
