A-Day is making it’s return this spring. Unfortunately, last spring the scrimmage game had to be cancelled due to the COVID19 pandemic. Luckily, A-Day will be happening this year, the date has been set for Saturday, April 17th.

Fans will be excited to hear this, this is a classic event that happens every spring. After winning the national championship game, fans will be eager to see the football team for the practice game. A-Day is a time for fans to come and watch the team and pretend it is football season for just a day. Usually, this event is free and whoever wants to come can. Unfortunately this year this will be different.

There will be stricter rules for A-Day this spring according to Greg Byrne’s Facebook live interview. Byrne explained that they will “probably will have to ticket the event.”

For A-Day, Bryant Denny Stadium will only be “between 20 and 25 percent capacity,” Byrne says.

Byrne also mentioned how “medical tasks force from the SEC said we are making progress, but you also can’t put all your guards down.”

Byrne added that he is “feeling optimistic about returning to normal sooner rather than later.”

Thankfully we are seeing lower positive COVID-19 cases. With the vaccine being released, we hope to see the numbers decline even more.

The University of Alabama’s twitter account tweeted recently that “Positive cases are down 70% since week 1 of Spring semester on UA System campuses per the COVID-19 dashboard. UA had 46 student positives from Feb. 5-11." With that being said, hopefully the upcoming football season will start to look more “normal”. There has already been talk that we will see some normalcy in the next football season.
