Reliable Alabama third baseman Zane Denton has entered the NCAA transfer portal as of Monday morning, according to 247Sports' Charlie Potter.

Denton locked down the left side of the infield for the Tide and started all 58 games of Alabama's 2022 schedule, leading the offense in home runs (13) and runs batted in (48).

He holds a .279 career batting average in a crimson uniform and has recorded 23 home runs with 97 RBI during his 129-game tenure.

The Brentwood, Tennessee native was selected to the 2021 SEC All-Defensive team and Newcomer All-SEC team in what would've been his sophomore year due to his first season being abbreviated for the worldwide COVID-19 outbreak.

With only his sophomore and junior seasons counting against his current eligibility, Denton has the ability to play for two more years under NCAA regulation or return to Alabama out of the transfer portal.

Along with Graham Crawford, James Thies, Jacob Eddington, Davis Heller and Owen Diodati, Denton is the sixth from the Crimson Tide to enter the NCAA's transfer portal following a lackluster 2022 season for the clubhouse.

Alabama baseball finished the year 31-27 (12-17), winning just three of its 10 conference series, with a loss in the 2022 SEC tournament to Florida.
