Have you ever wondered where Alabama ranks among the nation's best and worst states for women? I think Women's History Month is the perfect time to find out.

Did you know that women represent nearly two-thirds of all minimum-wage workers in the U.S? Not only is that true according to Wallet Hub, but also women's political representation also suffers, as women make up 51% of the U.S. population but only 24% of the Senate and 27.6% of the House of Representatives.

According to the study, Alabama had the 6th highest share of women in poverty, the 3rd worst life expectancy for women at birth, and the  4th lowest high school graduation rate for women.

Overall, in the study, Alabama ranked behind not 20, or 40, nor 14 states. Alabama ranked only behind ONE state which in fact makes Alabama the 2nd worst state for women in the U.S.

The Yellowhammer state came in dead last in rankings for women's economic & social well-being. Alabama also had the 4th worst ranking for women's health care & safety.

What do you think about these rankings? Are they accurate? Have you or a woman you know had an absolutely horrible experience that justifies Alabama's ranking being so low?
