In 2014 The Basketball Tournament (TBT) was started by creator Zach Lowe as a made for TV summer basketball tournament, with the winners claiming bragging rights, and more importantly, a large cash prize.

Teams were put together with largely former college players who didn't quite make it into the NBA and now entering the ninth edition of the event, the state of Alabama has a team to support.

"Sweet Home Alabama" will feature players who have played in and around the state of Alabama as they go for the cash prize of $1 million. The team will be led by former UAB Blazer and Conference-USA Player of the Year Aaron Johnson and current Dallas Skyline head coach Chris Berry as well as Kimami Key from the University of Montevallo.
