Anonymous College Student Returns Script ‘A’ to Rama Jama’s Rooftop
A legendary Tuscaloosa restaurant was missing a huge part of its iconic décor until an anonymous college student returned it Monday morning. Rama Jama's, located literally across the street from Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, was briefly missing its large rooftop 'A.'
The large 'A' atop Rama Jama's was a favorite photo spot for students, locals, and tourists alike, and restaurant owner Gary Lewis says that it was stolen at some point this weekend.
"It was removed at some point Friday night or early Saturday morning," Lewis said.
"There was no point of entry for the break-in," Lewis added. "They got up on the roof and took it."
There is a happy ending to the story, however, as the 'A' was brought back to Lewis this (Monday, October 19) morning.
"I was talking to a few friends when a young girl came and started rapping on the side door," Lewis said. "I told her we don't open until 7 but she said she had to talk to me."
Lewis said the young college girl, who wished to remain anonymous, said that she had the sign.
"She was the sweetest little girl," Lewis said. "I told her--you have given me hope for humanity."
Lewis said he agreed not to file charges for the theft and that the girl did not take the signs; however, she knew who was responsible for the theft.
The script 'A' will soon be returned to its rightful place atop Rama Jama's after a wild weekend.
This iconic Alabama A has stood above Rama Jamas for over two decades many Students Fans Kids have had their picture made up there beside it but no more a thief in the night stole it
