Best Fishing Spots Near Tuscaloosa

My Dad and I would go on adventures. Mother didn’t ask much about them. That was probably a good idea. Sometimes we would go fishing, feed the alligators or do both. Of course, that was always, “don’t tell your mother what we did” type of day.

Yes, you read that correctly; we would feed alligators. In my father’s defense, this was in South Florida at a fishing tourist camp that showed you how to feed the alligators. Thinking back on it, probably not the best idea. More than likely, those alligators were looking at me like the full course meal. But, I had fun, lots of fond memories, and I’m alive to talk about it.

We would also fish. I took great pride in my organized tackle box. I don’t remember catching anything, but it was fun. I learned at an early age that water is calming but could be dangerous under the wrong circumstances. So always use your best judgment when dealing with water activities.

Bibb County PFL

Fayette County PFL

60-acre lake

Fish species include largemouth bass, bluegill, redear sunfish, and channel catfish.

Anglers must catch and release all largemouth bass.

Walker County PFL

163-acre lake

Fish species include largemouth bass, bluegill, redear sunfish, channel catfish, crappie, and hybrid striped bass.

Open sunrise to sunset January 16 - June 30: Open six days each week. Closed Wednesdays.
