City of Tuscaloosa Reinstates Online Water Bill Payment
The City of Tuscaloosa has resumed accepting payments for water and sewer services through its online portal following a temporary suspension in the wake of a ransomware attack.
“Temporarily suspending online payment options for water and sewer services was necessary to ensure that all steps were being taken to best serve and protect our community,” said Tuscaloosa Chief Information Officer Chuck Crocker. “After further investigation, we feel confident that online payments can now be made safely and securely.”
Tyler Technologies, the vendor who provides billing services to the City of Tuscaloosa, continues to work with the FBI to complete a full investigation into the ransomware attack.
Beginning Monday, October 5th, customers can pay their water bills online. Customers can also pay bills in-person or via mail.
The grace period for non-payment of water bills continues through December 31st as part of an executive order from Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
