The turkey may think it is the star of the Thanksgiving meal. But, the sides genuinely are the main attraction.

Zippia used Google Trends to help determine each state's most popular Thanksgiving side dish. As we prepare for the Thanksgiving holiday, be sure to have your favorites on the menu. A side dish that confused me was for Maine. Side Salad? Seriously, you can have that any day of the week.

I don’t think it is any surprise that for Alabama, Dressing was the most popular side. NOT STUFFING! People, there is a difference. Our neighboring state of Mississippi loves Baked Sweet Potatoes for Thanksgiving. In contrast, Georgia can’t live without Mac and Cheese.

So far, our Thanksgiving meal lineup is shaping up like this:

Turkey

Ham

Candied Yams or Sweet Potato Casserole

Green Bean Casserole

Dressing

Collard Greens

Broccoli Salad

Cranberry Sauce/Jellied Cranberry

Cornbread

Sweet Rolls

Pumpkin Pie

Sweet Potato Pie

Pound Cake

Peach Cobbler

By the looks of it, my home state is a win for sweet potato casserole. However, I could visit Arizona, Idaho, Michigan, Nebraska, New Mexico, Ohio, and Texas since Green bean casserole is the most popular. I could eat my mother’s Green bean casserole every day of the week.
