Let me first start off by saying that as a Floridian, I'm not upset at the warm weather. The only issue I have is the back and forth between warm and freezing cold.

Coming from Florida, I had to adjust to the Alabama winter and fall seasons. Honestly, I've never been through a legit fall season until I got here. Back home, it's summer and spring year-round.

Just as I'm getting used to the Alabama weather, it changes up before I could even notice!

I have to admit, I fell into a routine of just wearing hoodies and jackets every day without checking the temperature. Recently, it came back to bite me when I all of a sudden found myself sweating like it was summertime.

That day it was a high of 78 degrees in Tuscaloosa. The thing is that just days before, it was freezing cold.

As if dealing with hot and cold spells weren't enough, we're still dealing with constant severe weather threats almost weekly it feels like. This Alabama weather needs to make up its mind. Maybe it has commitment issues.

This is exactly the kind of weather that makes it easy for people to get sick. In the world of COVID-19, that is the last thing anyone needs right now. Even the slightest sniffle can raise eyebrows as if you're hazardous to other people.

I'll tell you what I won't do, and that's not to be prepared for severe weather. I can take being surprised by cold or warm weather but not severe weather.

You can prepare for severe weather with the upcoming 2022 Severe Weather Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday. The holiday starts at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, February 25, 2022, and ends at twelve midnight on the following Sunday, February 27, 2022, pursuant to 40-23-230 through 233, Code of Alabama, 1975.
