Alabamians have noticed that gas prices are on the rise. According to AAA, “Since Monday, the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline has increased by 11 cents to $3.72.”

Why is the Price of Gas So High?

AAA reports that “expensive oil pushes prices to new heights.” How high can these prices go? Also, AAA said that “Russia’s violent invasion of Ukraine has roiled the oil market, with crude spiking briefly to over $100/bbl before settling back into the mid-$90s. The increase in the global price of oil has led to higher pump prices in the U.S.”

To gain perspective on how gas prices are across the United States, Tammi Mac a former Alabama resident who now lives outside of Los Angeles said “gas near her home is $5.04 for regular gas and in Los Angeles nearing or at $5.99 per gallon.” Lucky for her she “bypasses gas stations because she drives a Telsa.”

It doesn’t look good for the future months as well. Patrick De Haan the @GasBuddyGuy posted on Twitter “Welp, we're gonna be banging on the door of $4/gal by April it does appear.”
