Severe weather season always interrupts springtime in Alabama and this year it has been quite busy. Now our sights are set on the joy of summer.

For many Alabamians, the unofficial start to the summer season is Memorial Day weekend with the official launch being Summer Solstice on Tuesday, June 21. Many are ready for the hot summer months and some are ready to crank up the air conditioner. Others are ready to jump in the pool.

According to the Farmers’ Almanac, for summer 2022, Alabama along with Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee, and South & North Carolina are under the area for “hot, humid, and thundery” conditions.

May through August, the Southeast region could expect that “temperatures will be near average to slightly cooler,” said the Weather Channel.

May ranges between “79 to 84 degrees”

June ranges between “85 to 90 degrees”

July is known to be the “peak of summer in Alabama temperatures soar to 93 degrees.”

August is where “the temperatures scale down from the peak of summer to register in the average range of 69 to 93 degrees.

As far as summer travel, the Farmers’ Almanac said that “this summer weather is going to be remembered as a hot one nationwide.”

“Broiling heat and normal precipitation”

Western United States

“Scorching, no rain, and no gain”

Northwest United States

“Very warm and Dry”

Midwestern United States

“Sizzling and scattered summer showers” while some areas within the regions will experience “warm and showery” conditions.

Northeastern United States

“Seasonably warm and drier than normal”
