I-59/20 Bridges In Birmingham To Re-Open Soon

I don’t know about you, but I am super excited to hear that the I-59/20 bridges that have been under construction for about a year will be re-opened soon.  Governor Kay Ivey will be a part of a dedication of the bridges, and according to ABC 33 40 News, it is “scheduled for Friday, January 17th.”  Also, noted that from ABC 33 40 News, “the I59/20 bridges spanning downtown Birmingham will be open to traffic on or before January 21st.”

In talking with my friends, it created a headache for some of their commutes.  For the others, they are now accustomed to taking the other roadways.  For me, I just stuck with the GPS and was just happy to get there in a reasonable time frame.  However, I am sure many travelers will be rejoicing the opening.  According to ABC 33 40 News, “the completion of the bridges within a calendar year means the project’s contractor will collect a $15 million bonus.”
