Threat Area
James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist provided more insight on the Storm Prediction Center’s (SPC) outlook. Spann noted that the “SPC has defined a "slight risk" (level 2/5) of severe storms for areas north of a line from Greensboro to Clanton to Heflin. There is a "marginal risk" (level 1/5) as far south as Jackson, Greenville, and Phenix City.”
Detailed Timeline
The entire risk area is between 9:00 am and 9:00 pm. Spann has drilled down a more specific time range that involves the counties in our coverage. Spann mentioned that “the window for stronger storms over the northern half of the state will come from 9 am to 6 pm, and the main threat will come from strong straight-line winds and hail. The overall tornado threat is limited at best, but a brief tornado can't be totally ruled out.”

At this time there are no concerns about flooding as rain amounts should be below 1 inch.
