Aaron Estrada’s Clutch Three Prevails Motor City Cruise over Indiana Mad Ants
The Motor City Cruise secured a thrilling overtime victory against the Indiana Mad Ants last night, thanks in part to a former Alabama standout.
Aaron Estrada came up clutch with a game-tying three-point shot to send the game to overtime.
With Indiana leading 111-108 after a pull-up jumper by Dakota Mathias, Estrada responded with a corner three-pointer from an isolation play to keep the Cruise alive.
So far this season, Estrada is averaging 31.2 minutes, 17.0 points, and 6.0 assists per game.
Estrada's basketball journey began at Woodbury, where he led the team to a 2018 Prep A State Championship during his junior year, scoring a program-record 1,571 career points over three seasons. As a junior, he averaged 21.5 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.
In college, Estrada played at Saint Peter’s, Oregon, Hofstra, and Alabama. At Saint Peter’s, he earned MAAC Rookie of the Year honors, averaging 8.1 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game, along with three MAAC Rookie of the Week awards. His college career continued with significant contributions at each school, including 20.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game at Hofstra, where he was named a 2023 Lou Henson All-American and a National Player of the Year finalist. Estrada also earned back-to-back CAA Player of the Year honors. At Alabama, he averaged 13.4 points, 4.6 assists, and shot 84.7% from the free-throw line, becoming the only player in program history with over 490 points, 200 rebounds, and 170 assists in a single season. He finished his collegiate career with 1,968 points, 638 rebounds, and 523 assists.
