The Alabama softball team defeated Samford 6-2 on Tuesday night in Birmingham, Ala.

Lauren Esman started in the circle for the Crimson Tide. In her one inning pitched, she recorded two hits, one run, and one earned run.

Alabama got on the board first, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning. The first came from a single by designated player Bailey Dowling and the second came from a groundout by right fielder Larissa Preuitt.

Samford got on the board in the bottom of the first inning, scoring one run off the bat of catcher Logan Champion, who hit a single.

Alex Salter came in for relief in the second inning and picked up the win, her fifth of the season. She pitched four innings, recording three hits, one run, one earned run, one walk, and three strikeouts.

The Tide scored four runs in the second inning. The first run came in off the bat of Ally Shipman, who was called safe at first on a fielder's choice. The rest of the runs came in off the bat of Dowling, who hit a three-RBI double.

Samford put one more run on the board in the fifth inning off the bat of third baseman Grier Bruce, who recorded an RBI double.

Jaala Torrence came in to close the game in the sixth inning. She pitched two innings and recorded no hits, no runs, no earned runs, one walk, and two strikeouts.

The Crimson Tide is now 29-12 on the season.
