Former Alabama Guard Scores Career-High 41 Points Despite Loss
The standard of excellence at the University of Alabama doesn't remain in Tuscaloosa; it follows athletes and graduates across the United States and the world.
One recent example of this excellence occurred in San Diego, Calif.
Sunday night, former Alabama guard Jaden Shackelford exploded for a career-best 41 points in the Valley Suns' 129-122 loss to the San Diego Clippers.
Shackelford shot 60% from the field, including 11 threes, six rebounds, and five assists.
Shackelford is averaging 22.4 points per game on a 53.4 FG% through five games this season, significantly improving his numbers from his first two G-League seasons with the Oklahoma City Blue despite a smaller sample size.
Shackelford was instrumental in the beginning of Nate Oats' tenure at Alabama. Entering the program along with Oats. Shackelford burst onto the scene his freshman season, averaging 15 points per game and earning all-SEC honors.
Shackelford would stay with the program for two more years, leading the Tide to two NCAA tournament appearances and an SEC double-crown before declaring for the NFL draft.
