Former Alabama staffer Charlie Strong is headed back to the Capstone to become an analyst.

Strong previously held the position as a defensive analyst at Alabama in 2020.

The 62-year old has coached in both college football and the NFL, working mainly as a defensive coach and head coach.

His most notable jobs include his time at Florida (2003-09), where he served in multiple defense coaching positions as well as interim head coach and his head coaching job at Texas (2014-16).  

Other stops he has made in his coaching career include Texas A&M (1985), Southern Illinois (1986-87), Ole Miss (1990), Notre Dame (1995-98), South Carolina (1999-2002), Louisville (2010-13), South Florida (2017-19), and Jacksonville Jaguars (2021).

Some of his accolades include a 74-53 head coaching record, two-time Big East co-champions, two-time Coach of the Year, two-time BCS national champion, and CFP national champion.

He most recently held the position of co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Miami last season, working alongside Kevin Steele, who is now the defensive coordinator at Alabama.

This will be his ninth time coaching in the SEC.
