Keenan III named SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week
After a dominant performance against South Florida this past weekend, fellow Crimson Tide defensive lineman was honored this week.
Today, Tim Keenan III was announced as the SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week.
The Birmingham native led the Crimson Tide during its 42-6 win in tackles for loss and sacks.
The redshirt junior recorded a career-high nine tackles against the Bulls of USF. Of those nine tackles, 1.5 sacks and 2.5 tackles for loss were career highs for Keenan III.
Overall, the defense made another strong statement on third-down conversions. Last week, they held Western Kentucky to 3-of-18, and this week, they limited USF to 2-of-18.
Defensive coordinator Kane Wommack heaped praise for Keenan III's overall performance for the Crimson Tide.
Keenan III was not the only Crimson Tide player to be honored by the SEC this month.
Last week, defensive back Keon Sabb was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week. Sabb had two interceptions and two tackles versus Western Kentucky.
Wide receiver Ryan Williams was selected SEC Freshman of the Week. Williams scored two touchdowns and gained 139 yards in the season opener.
The Crimson Tide will seek to build on their recent success when they travel to Wisconsin for an 11 a.m. game against the Badgers next Saturday.
