Monday, the Associated Press released its latest Top 25 rankings for the college basketball season. Alabama claims the No. 1 spot for the first time since the 2002 season, leapfrogging a Houston team it beat back in December by earning 1,523 points in the poll and 38 first-place votes.

This historic milestone comes in wake of a stellar stretch for Alabama, which also included a Purdue loss to Northwestern Sunday.

The No. 1 ranking adds yet another resume piece to head coach Nate Oats' tenure in Tuscaloosa, after a come-from-behind win at Auburn Saturday.

The Tide sits at 22-3 overall on the season, with a perfect 12-0 record in conference play as of February 13th and is projected to claim the top seed in March Madness per multiple basketball experts.

Alabama travels to Knoxville on Wednesday for a clash with the defensively stacked Tennessee Volunteers, before returning home Saturday to face the unranked Georgia Bulldogs.
