Washington Offensive Coordinator to Remain With Huskies After Meeting Nick Saban
The Alabama Crimson Tide football program currently has vacancies for its two most important assistant coaching positions. Alabama needs to replace both its offensive and defensive coordinators after losing Bill O'Brien and Pete Golding in the offseason.
The coaching search has taken various twists and turn in the last two weeks and as of Tuesday both positions are still open. According to ESPN's Adam Rittenberg Washington's offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb will remain with the Huskies after meeting with Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban on Monday.
Grubb was tabbed to lead the Washington offense in 2022 and had significant success. The Huskies finished No. 1 in third down conversion percentage and passing offense. No. 2 in total offense and No. 5 in total first downs.
The Iowa native has extensive offensive experience, coaching nearly every position group between South Dakota State, Sioux Falls, Eastern Michigan and Fresno State.
Washington's quarterback in 2022 was junior Michael Penix Jr. He finished second in the nation in total passing yards with 4641 yards along with 31 passing touchdowns.
The Huskies finished 11-2 in 2022 and scored 32+ points in 10 games last season.
The Alabama offensive coordinator search continues as Grubb has officially decided to return to the Pac-12.
