As I was going through the data and analytics for this story, I found some interesting things about Tuscaloosa County.

We don't have one town in the top 10 richest towns in Alabama.

Recently, Only In Your State, released the richest towns in the state of Alabama.

Here we go!

According to Only In Your State, the average income is almost $50,000, so that's not bad. Home to the Riverchase Galleria, which at one time was the elite shopping center in the region, Hoover is in Jefferson and Shelby Counties.

#9 MADISON

EVERYTHING IS ABOUT HUNTSVILLE, HUNTSVILLE, HUNTSVILLE! That's all I hear about these days. Madison, of course, is part of the Huntsville Metro Area and is growing very fast and also has an average income near $50k, according to Only In Your State.

#8 GULF SHORES

C'mon man. It's Gulf Shores! You have to have some money to live on such a beautiful beach like Gulf Shores. It lowers my blood pressure just looking at photos from the area. Home to Waterville USA and the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo and the popular Hangout Music Festival, the median home price in Gulf Shores is $479,000.

#7 FAIRHOPE

I don't know much about Fairhope, but I read on Only In Your State, it was named one of the best small towns in Southern Living magazine. Good enough for me.

#6 DAUPHIN ISLAND

OK, it's easy to see why just from the photo above. What a great little vacation town. Located in Mobile County, the name is often mistaken for Dolphin Island, because the word "dauphin" is french for "dolphin". See, this article is entertaining AND informative.

#5 POINT CLEAR

Well, this place is definitely beautiful, but I have never been to Point Clear. It's in Baldwin County and only has a little more than 2,000 folks, but they are all stinking rich! Good for them.

#4 HOMEWOOD

According to Only In Your State, the Homewood High band has performed in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. That is pretty cool, in my opinion. Homewood also has a unique store that only sells goods made in Alabama, called "Alabama Goods", according to Only In Your State. I think that is pretty cool as well.

#3 ORANGE BEACH

According to Only In Your State, it's home to the tallest Ferris wheel (112 feet) in the Southeast, which is located at The Wharf and Orange Beach has an average income of $51,301.

Beautiful homes and rich people! What a combo. Only In Your State says the average income is over $60,000 in Vestavia Hills. In fact, I do believe my boss has a lovely home in Vestavia Hills...and I know he's rich!

#1 MOUNTAIN BROOK

Well, what more can you say about this town. Friends star Courteney Cox is from here and still owns property in lovely Mountain Brook. How about that?

It must be nice to have homes in these vacation spots of Alabama.

We can still dream...
