Severe Thunderstorm Watch
The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a "Severe Thunderstorm Watch" for many counties across Alabama, including the entire Townsquare Media Coverage area.
The "Severe Thunderstorm Watch" is in effect until 10 p.m.
A front is gradually advancing into Alabama today, poised to trigger scattered strong thunderstorms this afternoon and into the early evening. Residents should remain alert to potential severe weather impacts throughout the region.
In addition to the possible severe weather, extreme heat index values—up to 108 — will be a concern. Please remember that hot conditions plus high humidity could cause heat-related illnesses.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham issued a “Heat Advisory” for today from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m., which includes the Townsquare Media Coverage Area.
“Like yesterday, it won't rain everywhere,” said James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist. “But, where storms do form, they will be capable of producing strong winds and small hail. Most of the storms today will be over the southern half of Alabama ahead of the front.”
