I can’t be the only one who has a movie scene flash through their mind when there’s a logging truck in front of them on the road.

I automatically have flashbacks to Final Destination 2.  Even those who have not seen the movie, have seen that one clip.

Is that even something that can happen in real life? They say movies imitate life. So has this “scene” ever happened?

Now the scene from Final Destination 2 happened to one very lucky driver. As you can see by the photo the logs impaled his vehicle. How did he walk away from this accident? He happened to drop something and leaned over to pick it up. That’s the moment he rear-ended the logging truck. Now, if the driver was not leaning over, this scenario would have been horrific.

Another scene was caught on video, imagine being the driver and watching a log coming at you.

Now one truck driver was not so lucky, he suffered a heart attack and crashed. His load of logs ended up scattered across Cedar Bluff Road in Centre Alabama.

According to Gibbs and Sellers law firm -   “In Jan. 2019, researchers published an analysis of logging truck accidents in the International Journal of Forest Engineering. Using data from the FARS crash database — the Fatality Analysis Reporting System — those researchers found that fatal crashes involving logging trucks shot up 41% from 2011 to 2015. Tractor-trailer style trucks accounted for most of the 383 crashes during that period of time.”

Do you think you are safe inside your home from logging trucks? One Fort Payne resident came home and found a logging truck lost its load and that load ended up inside her home.

Now Alabama is not the only state that has had its share of logging truck accidents. So just remember the rules of the road, never stay behind a truckload of logs.
