Reports of Shots Fired Draw Tuscaloosa Police to Area Near Central Elementary School
Reports of gunshots drew a large police presence to the west side of Tuscaloosa Thursday afternoon, but so far they have found no victims or damaged property.
Stephanie Taylor, a spokesperson for the Tuscaloosa Police Department, told the Thread that dispatchers received a call of shots fired not far from Central Elementary School.
The call came in around 2:30 p.m., and Taylor said officers responded to and searched the area of 16th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard across the ball field from the elementary school.
The incident drew a large number of patrol officers to the area, and a police helicopter and at least one of TPD's cyber unit drones were in the skies patrolling from the air.
As of 2:45, it appears if there was a shooting, no one was struck by the gunfire.
