John Metchie III is entering his moment as the second ranked Alabama Crimson Tide offense boasts the No. 3 offense in the nation, averaging 555 yards per game. The sophomore receiver has burst onto the scene is now known as one of Bama's best weapons.

Through six games this season Metchie has hauled in 24 receptions for 517 yards and three touchdowns. Against Tennessee after Waddle went down with his injury Metchie had 7 receptions for 151 yards. He will assume No. 2 receiving duties for the Crimson Tide and is ready to make a name for himself and his country.

Metchie was born in Ghana but moved to Canada prior to moving to America for high school to pursue football. The 6-foot receiver is making a name for himself in his second season in Tuscaloosa and hopes to show all of Canada that you can do anything with hard work

"I just wanna show kids from Canada that they can really do anything they put their minds to, especially if they wanna play football at the highest level," said Metchie.

The 4-star receiver enrolled early at Alabama and was named the 2019 Spring game MVP but did not play much last season. The departure of Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs III.

Metchie is one of several Canadian athletes who have chosen Alabama to pursue their athletic goals. Outfielder Owen Diodati enjoyed an impressive freshman season, he hit five homeruns and had 22 RBIs in a COVID-19 season and is from Ontario. ]

Nate Oats has recruited two freshman from north of the boarder, 4-star guard Josh Primo from Toronto is full of potential as a young long wing player. Keon Ambros-Hylton is a 6-foot-8 forward also from Toronto and both Primo and Ambros-Hylton were teammates on Team Canada.

Metchie isn't satisfied with just earning playing time and a handful of targets. He's interested in improving and growing his skill-set in order to make an impact on those who look up to him.

“Personally, I kind of just keep my head down and kind of keep working because I feel like there’s still a long ways to go as far as personal goals and things like that. So, for me, I just keep working and hopefully, one day I can look back and see that I made an impact in kids from Canada and the sport, what it means over there,"

Metchie will likely see an uptick in targets the remainder of the season and with several big plays already this year he's shown he's up to the challenge.
