Monk to Be Guest Announcer at March Roller Derby Bout in Tuscaloosa

Tuscaloosa's Druid City Dames will kick off their 2018 season on Saturday, March 24th and Monk has been asked to be their guest announcer for the evening! 

Tuscaloosa's one and only roller derby team will host the Mississippi Brawl Stars from Columbus, MS on March 24th at Super Skate on McFarland and the coolest part of the night could be watching me call my very first derby bout!

You can bring your own chairs if you want because seating will probably be limited but there is a "suicide seat" option. Those are the seats on the floor next to the action where you could end up with a derby girl or two or three in your lap! Tickets are only $10 in advance plus an additional surcharge and available here online.

I've been a fan and associated with roller derby for the last 10 years or so. I've volunteered my time with both the Druid City Dames and Birmingham's Tragic City Rollers. I even tried out for the announcer gig in Birmingham once, which obviously I didn't get, but I've never actually called a for real bout. I'm a little nervous to be honest. Not because I'll be behind the mic in front of people, I do that for a living, I suppose I'm more anxious about not knowing what I'm talking about. I may need your support as much as our Dames do!

Seriously though, roller derby is awesome fun to watch and I'll do my best while announcing to help you understand what is happening on the track.
