New Year, New Storms, Possible Severe Weather Headed to Central Alabama
We are monitoring the possibility for severe weather that could begin Saturday and continue through early Sunday morning ahead of a cold front.
The National Weather Service In Birmingham issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for all of central Alabama for New Year’s Day and recently increased the northwest half of the threat area to an enhanced risk.

- Tornadoes
- Damaging winds up to 70 mph
- Quarter size hail
James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist discussed Saturday’s potential severe weather saying, “An approaching cold front will bring more active weather to the state tomorrow and tomorrow night. SPC has defined an "enhanced risk" (level 3/5) for about the northern half of Alabama.”
