A Winter Storm Watch from 6 am Monday, February 15, 2021, until Tuesday, February 16, 2021, Midnight has been issued by the National Weather Service Birmingham for the following counties:










A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant accumulations of freezing rain or sleet that may impact travel.

WHAT...Periods of freezing rain and sleet with total ice accumulations up to one-quarter of an inch.

WHERE...Portions of central and west-central Alabama.

WHEN...From Monday morning through Monday evening.

IMPACTS...Power outages and tree damage are possible due to ice accumulations. Travel could be nearly impossible.

A Winter Weather Advisory from 6 pm Sunday, February 14, until 6 am Monday, February 15, 2021, has been issued by the National Weather Service Birmingham for the following counties:




A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities…and use caution while driving.

*TONIGHT/TOMORROW: Freezing drizzle is possible in spots across North Alabama, north of I-59, tonight and tomorrow; some patchy bridge icing is a possibility tomorrow… impact will be fairly limited, but still be very careful on bridges.


*TOMORROW NIGHT/MONDAY: The storm system will bring two main waves of wintry weather expected. The first wave will bring ice potential to North and West Alabama Sunday night and early Monday, followed by a second wave Monday afternoon and Monday night. The second wave will bring the heavier ice potential and greatest impact.
