Funeral arrangements for Officer Kennis Croom have been released by his family, with a series of memorial events set to begin Thursday both locally and in Mississippi.

Croom, who was born in Tuscaloosa and raised in one of the city's best-known families, was killed in the line of duty in Meridian, Mississippi last week.

As previously reported by the Tuscaloosa Thread, the City of Tuscaloosa will memorialize Croom as one of its own police officers.

On Thursday, a memorial service will take place at the Meridian High School Gymnasium at 1:00 p.m. in Meridian, MS.

A public viewing will take place Friday from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Northport Funeral and Cremation Service, located at 5404 Watermelon Road in Northport.

Croom's fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. will host an Omega Ceremony at the Northport Funeral and Cremation Service on Friday at 6:00 p.m.

Croom's Celebration of Life will take place Saturday at Shelton State Community College. Croom will lie in state from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. with the service beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Officer Croom will be buried at Memorial Hill Gardens on Skyland Boulevard.
