A man suspected of firing gunshots outside at a party this past weekend has been arrested. Brandon Hurst, 24, was charged Wednesday, (5/30), with six felony counts in connection to the shooting on 25th Street, which left two persons injured, one of which was a 5 year-old girl. Investigators said they’re searching for other suspects, but haven’t released any names.

As he was being escorted from the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office, Hurst told reporters that he didn’t shoot anyone, and doesn’t own a gun.

According to various witnesses, at approximately 9 p.m. on Saturday, Hurst started firing shots at a 41-year-old man after Hurst was asked to leave a party. The man was struck several times in the torso and still remains hospitalized. The 5 year-old girl was struck in the head. Fortunately, she was hospitalized and released from the hospital on Tuesday.

Hurst surrendered to authorities at a home in the 4700 block of 45th Street East, Wednesday Morning without incident.

Hurst has been charged with attempted murder, second-degree assault, shooting into an occupied dwelling, shooting into an unoccupied vehicle, being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and probation revocation.

He is currently being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail with bond set at $150,000.
