Shy Dogs Have The Most Love To Give

It's nothing like helping a pet come out of its shell. I remember when my parents got their current family dog named Barkley. He was so scared of being around us and would hide under the bed. If anyone reached for him or tried to get him from under the bed or reach under there, he'd growl and try to bite you! It was a scary scene. We knew that all he needed was love and time. Fast-forward to today and he's so nice to everyone he comes in contact with and is the friendliest dog ever. He doesn't even bite or snap at people or other dogs for that matter. Those kinds of animals have the most love to give, they just need the right family to be patient with them. That seems to be the case with Louie. He's not the kind to bite at people like Barkley, but he is shy and has a lot of love to give. If you're in search of a good family pet, consider this shy Labrador/terrier mix from the Humane Society of West Alabama. This week's HSWA Pet of the Week is Louie.

Press Release

Louie is a 4-year old male Labrador/terrier mix who will be full-grown at 30 pounds. He was rescued from a dog hoarding case, so he is currently underweight and cautious around new people. He has a low-key, sweet personality that reveals itself when he is comfortable with you. Louie loves treats and they have gone a long way in helping to socialize him in the world beyond his former home. This shy guy would love someone who will shower him with attention and help him get used to things like car rides and enjoying the great outdoors.

Louie is up-to-date on vaccinations, neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. If you are interested in giving Louie a second chance at happiness, call us at 205-554-0011 or email humaneswa@yahoo.com to request an appointment to see him. Our adoption fee is $75.
