Northside took advantage of good field position, steady running and strong defense to pull off the 14-12 upset of the state's No. 1 ranked team in Class 4A. The Ram's win tonight is just the second in school history over the Greenwave.
On a rainy night in north Tuscaloosa County the Northside Rams (1-0) took down the Berry Wildcats (0-1) 37-6 to open the 2021 season with a rivalry game victory. The Rams were dominant in the trenches from the start of the game and capitalized off crucial turnovers to take control of the contest.
The Rams scored all 29 of its points in the first half, led by sophomore quarterback Braden Green rushing for 54 yards on 11 carries while scoring all three offensive touchdowns for Northside.
The Northside Rams (5-1, 3-1) were scheduled to play the Curry Yellow Jackets (0-6, 0-3) in a Class 4A Region 5 contest on Thursday, Oct. 8. The matchup has now been cancelled by Curry due to COVID-19.
While the thermometer still registers in the high-eighties, going into week four makes it feel more and more like fall and football season. Not all Tuscaloosa-area schools are competing in area matchups, but there are still some big games to look out for.
