The Worst 48 Hours: Alabama Athletics’ Turbulent Times
Let us think back to December 4th. What a day for Tide fans. It was the SEC Championship and the Battle in Seattle on the same day.
Nerves were through the roof, to say the least. The Alabama Crimson Tide's playoff hopes were all on beating the Georgia Bulldogs. Alabama Men's Basketball on the other hand was on another side of the nation, taking on a very skilled Gonzaga team.
Both Crimson Tide teams were able to do the unthinkable. Both Georgia and Gonzaga were upset by Alabama.
For all Tide fans, many will remember that wonderful 24 hours as a "Bad day to be a Bulldog."
Fast forward to a new month, a new year, and the 10th and 11th of January. Many Tide fans now sit and wonder:
"What happened?"
A rematch in the National Championship against Georgia went South, and the SEC champions were knocked out by the Bulldogs. Meanwhile, Alabama Men's Basketball had entered somewhat of a skid but could regain momentum if they took down in-state rival Auburn.
Alabama Men's Basketball now faces falling out completely of the AP Top 25. At one point, the men's team was on the outside looking in of the top 5 at no. 6.
For many Tide faithful, it hasn't been an easy 2 days. When you lose to any opponent, it hurts. To lose back-to-back to SEC opponents, for any SEC fan, means there's no end to the trash talk.
It's a long offseason for the Crimson Tide football team, while Alabama men's basketball is beginning to get into SEC play. What will the rest of the season bring? We'll have to wait and see.
