The Tuscaloosa Academy Knights defeated the Clarke Prep Gators in a home game to stay on top of its region. While the Knights' community celebrated the 42-14 victory the evening was about so much more. Tuscaloosa Academy carried out several memorial gestures to celebrate and remember the life of Fuller Goldsmith.

Goldsmith defeated cancer four times before passing from the awful disease on Tuesday. He was best known as a talented chef, winning 'Chopped Junior' at the age of 13. It was clear that his impact was felt beyond the kitchen.

The Knights captains carried Goldsmith's No. 32 football jersey and his letterman's jacket on the field to the coin toss, which Tuscaloosa Academy won.

The senior class then gathered at midfield and released 32 balloons into the sky to commemorate his life and the legacy that he leaves behind.

Tuscaloosa Academy also painted its field with special designs and the Knights wore special decals on their helmets to commemorate and honor Goldsmith.

While the football team honored Goldsmith's life by retiring his number and pausing to celebrate him before the game, the school took up donations for a charity that was near to Goldsmith's heart. "Smile-A-Mile" is a camp that provided hope to pediatric cancer patients and their family and was a cause that Goldsmith enjoyed. Tuscaloosa Academy took donations and sold ribbons and buttons to help benefit "Smile-A-Mile".

After the football team honored Goldsmith in the best way possible, by winning 42-14, the two teams joined together once more at midfield to listen to an audio recording played on the "Steve and DC Show" on 95.3 The Bear to conclude the night of memorization.
