The Tuscaloosa Police Department has identified the man who died Thursday morning after rear-ending a city school bus as 53-year-old Michael Conner.

Lt. Teena Richardson, a spokesperson for the police department, said the bus was traveling east on Canterbury Road Thursday morning just before 7 o'clock.

Richardson said the boss entered the median on Highway 69 South and was waiting to proceed into northbound traffic when the 2018 Kia Forte that Conner was driving collided with the rear end of the bus.

Richardson said Conner succumbed to his injuries quickly and was pronounced dead on the scene by medical personnel.

She said TPD is continuing to investigate the accident and its cause.
