With Halloween behind us, retailers are wasting no time switching gears ahead of the holiday season and Tuscaloosa's Midtown Village shopping center is no exception -- managers for the mall set the date for their annual Christmas tree lighting in a Tuesday announcement.

Hollyann Luker, a spokeswoman for Midtown's managers at Crawford Square Real Estate Advisors, said they are planning a festive, family-friendly event for next Friday, November 11th.

'All is Bright' will feature an appearance by Santa, the inaugural tree lighting and "maybe even a little snow," Luker said.

There will also be a DJ playing Christmas carols, a live performance by the Tuscaloosa Community Dancers, face painting and holiday popup shops during the two-hour event on the village green in the center of the shopping center.

Confirmed vendors include Vintage Cotton Boutique, Francesca’s, Sparrow, Lavish, Fabrik and more, all of whom will offer exclusive discounts during the event.

Luker also said Midtown Village will serve as a headquarters for "Santa's official line of communication," and children can drop off letters to St. Nick to a mailbox on the green.
