West Alabama Works announced it will be holding an urgent hiring event Friday, March 18th from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Fayette Civic Center.

The event, which is free and open to the public, is being held as a result of a recent "local industry closure" that displaced about 100 workers.

“Situations like these are when we as an organization can help to fill a need even at a moment’s notice,” said Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama COO and West Alabama Works Executive Director Donny Jones in a press release. “Through this event, local job seekers will be able to attend and explore available career pathways and be connected to education and training opportunities in their community."

According to the press release, the event will feature several Fayette-based businesses that will hold on-site interviews and hire candidates in a variety of industry fields.
