Alabama Fans in Austin, Texas You Must Visit These Restaurants
Alabama fans from across the globe are headed to Austin, Texas to cheer the Crimson Tide on to another victory. I would like to say that “on the road” games are perfect weekend getaways. Stay in a great spot, visit a local attraction, cheer on the Tide, and eat at some great restaurants.
You know my golden rule, while out of town you never eat at a location that you have back home; while out of town it’s time to explore.
Ryan Fowler of the flagship home of Alabama Sports, Tide 100.9 had the opportunity to interview Alabama native, Hunter Williams who is a Meteorologist in Austin, Texas for KVUE News. They chatted about what Alabama fans could expect weather-wise at Darrell K Royal Memorial Stadium but of course, Fowler asked a very important question. What did Williams recommend for Roll Tide fans to visit for a good meal?
Obviously, the conversation landed on the topic of food, mainly BBQ.
Williams said that Austin is all about the barbecue and a little bit different vibe. With the barbecue here compared to Alabama and not as much about the pork ribs and the pulled pork. All about the brisket here and there's a couple of good places.” He recommended Franklin and Terry Blacks. Click here to listen to the full interview.
Wait, did someone say BEEF BRISKET? Yum

Their slogan is “serving the best barbecue in the known universe.” I like that. “Franklin Barbecue has been celebrated by everyone from Jimmy Kimmel to Anthony Bourdain to President Obama. Aaron is the recipient of the James Beard Award for Best Chef and has also been inducted into the American Royal Barbecue Hall of Fame for 2020.”
The menu is straightforward. I would get the brisket, turkey, pinto beans, slaw, and the bourbon banana.

Terry Black’s BBQ story goes a little something like this, “Terry Black passed down generations of barbecue knowledge learned from his experience in the Lockhart BBQ scene. His twin sons Michael and Mark Black bring their very own style of Central Texas BBQ from Lockhart to Austin.”
If you are headed to Terry Black’s BBQ, Williams said that when the “line builds up through the day they'll come out bring in beer bring your margarita why stand in line dealing with the heat.”
The menu looks delicious. I wanna hop on a plane now and be there when they open. For me, I would order up the prime sliced brisket, sausage, cream corn, green beans, cole slaw, and peach cobbler.
