The City of Tuscaloosa announced that it will temporarily suspend all online water bill payments in a Monday press release.

Tyler Technologies, a vendor providing utility billing software that is used by the City reported "a ransomware attack that disrupted its internal corporate network and phone systems."

“The safety and security of our citizens has always been the top priority of The City of Tuscaloosa,” Tuscaloosa Chief Information Officer Chuck Crocker said. “We will continue working closely with our vendors to ensure that all steps are taken to best serve and protect our community.”

Mayor Walt Maddox's executive order allowing a grace period for non-payment of water, sewer and solid waste was extended through Dec. 31.
