Hear What Nick Saban Said as Alabama Started Preparations for Louisville
After three weeks of fall camp, the Alabama football team officially turned its attention to the its week one opponent. There's fewer than 10 days until the season kicks off with a game against Louisville, and head coach Nick Saban has already started the mental preparations.
"We start on our first opponent a little bit today," Saban said. "This message is how are you going to respond to a team that has bad intentions for what they want to do against you and what you want to accomplish yourself."
Fall classes at the University of Alabama began on Wednesday and that can become a distraction for players as they make they the adjustment to balancing football and school, but that hasn't been an issue so far for this team.
"This is usually a tough transition week when school started like yesterday. A lot of distractions but I really was pleased with the way the players responded. We had a couple of our best work days the last two days."
Here's what else Saban talked about on Thursday evening:
- Nothing new to report on the injury front. Najee Harris still making progress and considered day-to-day.
- Rashad Johnson's return to Tuscaloosa and his addition to the Alabama staff.
- What the program does to prevent an incident like what we're seeing at Ohio State and some details on the procedures they have in place.
- Jerry Jeudy's strong fall camp and how he's progressed from his freshman season.
- How the kicking game has been in camp.
- How the staff decides which players to focus on and how to handle the redshirt rule.
