Saban Glad Alabama Subs Got In
Alabama coach Nick Saban met the media after a 66-10 win over Chattanooga. Here are the highlights:
Opening Statement
"Really pleased with the guys came out and played today. You really want to maintain your intensity, try to improve and get better. About 98 per cent of the time we had the right intensity.
"Jalen played really well starting out 10-for-10. The players did a good job executing. Burton had big day.
"We dressed 134 guys and got to play a ton of guys. Always happy to be able to do that. Having the opportunity to play in a game at Bryant-Denny is special."
On Caleb Downs punt returns
"We've got confidence in him and [Isaiah Bond]. I've got confidence in Kool-Aid. We've got to get his confidence back.
"Caleb's got confidence. He did a good on his long return."
On Will Reichard
"Fantastic. I don't know that anybody's had a more productive career. He's improved through the years. He's helped the other specialists grow and develop."
On Chris Braswell's targeting ejection
"We telling guys... you can't hit the quarterback in the head. We just keep working on it. When players see this happen, it's a good learning opportunity."
On the team's development
"A lot of guys have made a huge difference in the development of this team. Jalen's improved. The offensive line's made significant improvement.
"On defense we communicate better and do things better.
"We've got a two-game season left and we need to concentrate on how we focus and finish."
On injuries
"'Q' Robinson is fine. Just a stringer. Kobe Prentice strained a hamstring in practice. You don't want to risk him re-injuring it."
[Others who sat out were Deontae Lawson, Jaylen Key and Ja'Corey Brooks.]
On Ty Simpson's fumble
"Do I have to comment on that? That's a learning experience.
"I thought Ty played well today."
On Justice Haynes
"Justice is a really good player. I was very pleased with the way he played. Kendrick Law did a good job blocking for him allowing him to score."
On the senior class
"These seniors have done a great job representing the University on and off the field. I'm very proud of the way they've developed personally and professionally and how they've contributed to the team.
"The older guys have embraced the younger guys that come into the program... and helping them grow and develop."
