The breaking news has already begun to affect Alabama on the recruiting trail. Five-star and top wide receiver Ryan Williams has de-committed from the University of Alabama.

Williams reclassified from the 2025 class to the 2024 class back in December following the Saraland Spartans' loss in the 6A state title game in Bryant-Denny Stadium.

The two-time Alabama Gatorade Player of the Year has been committed to the Crimson Tide since 2022.

In his announcement, Williams said, "I need to test my options."

Williams's de-commitment obviously hurts the Crimson Tide's recruiting class. It is unsure yet who all from the 2024 class will remain with the Crimson Tide, as the transfer portal window has re-opened for Alabama players and early enrollees.

Alabama's current recruiting class has two wide receivers, Rico Scott and Amari Jefferson. On the roster, Alabama currently boasts Isaiah Bond, Jalen Hale, and Kobe Prentice, among others who were highly-rated prospects at the high school level.

Alabama's new transfer portal window has opened for 30 days following the shocking announcement of Coach Saban's retirement.

Tide 100.9 will have wall-to-wall coverage of the Alabama coaching search and head coach Nick Saban's retirement.
