In recent years Alabama has become a fairly hot spot for Hollywood films and television projects.

A few A-list stars have even been seen at Alabama Crimson Tide athletic events and private practices.

Now, with Easter just around the corner, the hit movie could set records this weekend.

Who knew that it was filmed in Alabama?

The film?

The film is the TRUE story of a spiritual awakening that took place in the 1970's in the USA.

It is literally when the term "Jesus freak" was coined and became well-known among believers and non-believers.

The story is about Greg Laurie and his clash with a hippie-street-preacher in California in the '70's.

A large majority of this box office success, was filmed in Alabama cities, Fairhope and Mobile.

Some shots were also done in Newport Coast, California, but most of the movie was filmed here in Alabama.

This film is another hit for the Erwin brothers from Birmingham, Alabama.

Jon & Andrew Erwin are quickly becoming a hot commodity in the land of LA LA, Los Angeles.

The brothers began their careers, as cameramen, for the ESPN network.

The Erwin's got very active in sports after that, and they worked on college football (ROLL TIDE!), NBA basketball and NFL football.

They dabbled in commercials but really got their break when they jumped into the world of music producing concerts for Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, Casting Crowns and Skillet.

That took them into making feature films. Christian-themed feature films that proved to Hollywood execs that people of faith would support wholesome content.

"I Can Only Imagine", "I Still Believe" and "American Underdog" are some of the duos recent box office hits.

Jon & Andrew are from Alabama, and they haven't forgotten where they came from since finding success.

The boys still come to Alabama to shoot many of their #1 movies, and that makes me like them even more.
