Study Says Alabama Isn’t a Safe State
Safety is most people’s top concern. Whether you’re out of town, at the grocery store, or even in your own home you want to feel safe.
In 2020 most people felt unsafe about their health due to the Covid 19 pandemic. The same thing happened when monkey pox made its way to America. Unfortunately, health pandemics are not the only thing to feel unsafe about.
Wallet Hub has made a list of safest states in America and you won’t be happy where Alabama falls on that list.
The #1 spot being the safest place, Alabama falls very low at the bottom coming in at spot 45 out of all 50 states. The state received a score of 40.97
The list was based on 5 key categories with a highest score of 100 including: Personal and residential Safety, Financial Safety, Road Safety, Workplace Safety, and Emergency Preparedness.
For personal and residential safety Alabama scored a 34. For financial safety, we received a 33, and for workplace safety a 38. The state received the highest score for road safety which was 40 and emergency preparedness was 44.
According to a site called Best Places, Tuscaloosa County has a violent crime rate of 29.9 out of 100 and a property crime rate of 59.7 out of 100. This isn’t too bad compared to the neighboring city, Birmingham, which had double these rates.
No matter where you are or what you might be doing, always be aware of your surroundings to keep yourself and your loved ones safe, especially during the holidays.
