Tuscaloosa School Closures Announced As Severe Weather Rolls In
Wednesday in West Alabama is expected to be a wild one with the possibility of severe weather for our area. there is a threat of tornadoes, damaging winds, large hail, and flooding.
As the severe weather threat approaches, multiple Tuscaloosa schools have announced closures.
"All TCS summer learning programs will dismiss at noon today, June 14. Transportation will be provided as part of the early dismissal. All after school activities will be canceled," is the message posted on social media by Tuscaloosa City Schools.
Tuscaloosa County Schools are also making adjustments in preparation for possible severe weather in West Alabama.
"All schools and offices in the Tuscaloosa County School System will close at 1:30 pm," is what was posted on their social media pages Wednesday.
Stillman College closed their campus at 11 am Wednesday in an effort to keep students and employees safe.
"The threat of inclement weather continues to develop, and Stillman's campus will close at 11 a.m. today. Normal operations will resume at 8 a.m. Thursday."
Shelton State Community College also announced they will be closing early ahead of the severe weather threat.
